Legora’s Series E has brought the Swedish legal AI company $550 million at an $8.8 billion post-money valuation. The financing, announced October 21, was led by Atreides Management and will fund expansion in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, plus further investment in the company’s agentic software for legal work.

The valuation is roughly 57% above the $5.6 billion figure Legora gave for its previous round. That comparison reflects the company’s stated financing valuations, rather than an independent appraisal of the business.

Legora says its software assists lawyers with research, document review and drafting. Reuters reported that legal AI vendors have attracted investment as law firms and corporate legal departments adopt the technology, even as many large firms build capabilities internally.

Who invested in Legora’s Series E?

Alongside Atreides, Legora named Baron Capital, Capital Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Glade Brook Capital Partners and J.P. Morgan as new investors in the round.

The company said returning backers include Accel, Benchmark, Bessemer Venture Partners, General Catalyst, ICONIQ, Insight Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, Redpoint Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Sands Capital. Legora did not disclose individual cheque sizes or ownership stakes in the material available for the announcement.

Atreides managing partner and CIO Gavin Baker said in Legora’s announcement that the firm saw the company as a platform law firms and in-house teams adopt and then broaden within their organizations. That is an investor assessment, not a reported measure of deployment or retention.

What will Legora do with the $550 million?

Legora said it will use the capital to expand across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific and to develop Legora aOS, its product for legal professionals and their AI agents. The company listed offices in New York, Denver, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Toronto and Mexico City, and said it opened its first U.S. office in spring 2025.

The company also reported that the U.S. is now its largest market by revenue and that in-house legal teams made up more than 40% of new customers in the third quarter. Those figures have not been independently verified in the reports cited here.

Legora further said annual recurring revenue now exceeds $200 million, after rising from $1 million to $100 million in less than 18 months and adding the next $100 million in less than six months. It reported more than 1,000 employees and more than 140,000 users across over 2,400 law firms and in-house legal teams. All are company-reported operating metrics.

The company was founded in 2023 and launched its platform in October 2024, according to Legora. Tech.eu has identified San Francisco-based Harvey as a competitor. Reuters reported that Harvey raised its own $550 million round at a $15.5 billion valuation in September, showing that investors are putting similarly sized checks into competing legal AI companies.
