Foxconn Arcfra deployment replaces VMware in some factory offices
Foxconn is using Arcfra’s Neutree for GPU virtualization and remote-office VMware replacement, though deal terms were not disclosed.

Foxconn has adopted Singapore-based Arcfra for GPU virtualization workloads and to replace VMware in some remote offices, a Foxconn Arcfra deployment that puts a young hyperconverged infrastructure vendor inside one of the world’s largest manufacturers. The companies have not disclosed the contract value, number of sites, deployment timeline, or the scope of VMware workloads being migrated.
Arcfra launched in 2024 and was later included in Gartner’s Market Guide for Full-Stack HCI Software, according to The Register. The company recently updated Neutree, its model-as-a-service platform, adding native GPU virtualization and model governance capabilities.
Arcfra said Foxconn is using Neutree to modernize distributed factory infrastructure and improve how AI models are delivered, managed and observed across environments. The company also said Foxconn is using the platform to speed model deployment, improve operational visibility and create a base for future AI and intelligent manufacturing workloads. Those are Arcfra’s claims; Foxconn has not publicly detailed the deployment.
Why did Foxconn replace VMware with Arcfra?
Arcfra’s case study says Foxconn’s global branch companies had been using VMware virtualization for IT systems and that the setup had become harder to manage and scale across a distributed footprint. The case study also says the prior VMware plus SAN storage architecture increased construction costs and operations and maintenance overhead.
According to Arcfra, Foxconn deployed the platform across branch factories in Mainland China, Taiwan, Vietnam and North America. The company says the workloads include critical intranet systems, manufacturing management, ERP and production line management systems, as well as DevTest environments and virtual desktop infrastructure.
The Register reported that it asked Arcfra for more detail on the relationship and was directed to the case study. It also asked Foxconn for comment and had not received a response at publication time.
The AI angle is plausible for Foxconn, but still thinly documented in public. The Register reported last year that Foxconn chairman Young Liu described generative AI as having the potential to improve the company’s factories. Arcfra’s announcement ties Neutree to AI model delivery and governance, but it does not say how many models are in production, what performance changed, or how the GPU virtualization work compares with Foxconn’s previous setup.
What it signals for VMware customers
For Broadcom, Foxconn is another notable VMware customer appearing in reports about alternative infrastructure choices after the VMware acquisition. Broadcom has shifted VMware toward large enterprise customers and says the overwhelming majority of its target customers have adopted its Cloud Foundation suite.
The Register has also reported dissent among large customers, naming Tesco, Western Union and Allstate Insurance alongside Foxconn. That does not mean VMware is broadly being displaced across Foxconn, and Arcfra’s public materials describe replacement in branch and factory contexts rather than a companywide migration.
Broadcom’s broader business also has offsetting momentum. Samsung announced a $200 billion deal with Broadcom covering memory and foundry collaboration, including High Bandwidth Memory for Broadcom’s next-generation AI accelerators and Samsung 2-nanometer and smaller process technologies for Broadcom products. Broadcom Semiconductor Solutions Group president Charlie Kawwas said the companies aim to deliver technologies for next-generation AI infrastructure by combining Samsung’s memory and foundry capabilities with Broadcom’s AI and connectivity work.
That context matters because Broadcom is both reshaping VMware’s customer base and racing to secure manufacturing capacity for custom accelerators. Foxconn’s Arcfra adoption is a discrete infrastructure win for a startup vendor, and a small but visible sign that some large VMware users are willing to put alternatives into production where cost, distributed operations and AI infrastructure overlap.
