Perceptual Robotics funding tops £4M for wind turbine inspections

Perceptual Robotics funding has passed £4 million so far this year, the UK wind technology company said, giving it more capital to build out its AI-assisted turbine inspection and maintenance software. The company did not disclose its valuation, revenue, headcount, or the split between equity investment and co-funded support.

The financing includes backing from new and existing shareholders, according to Perceptual Robotics. Named investors and supporters include Investing for Purpose, Loggerhead Ventures and One Planet Capital, alongside support co-funded by Innovate UK, which is part of UK Research and Innovation.

Perceptual Robotics sells systems for inspecting wind turbine blades and software intended to help operators spot damage, decide which repairs should come first and manage turbine fleets. The company says its tools are built to shorten inspection work, improve maintenance planning and help extend the working life of turbine blades.

What will Perceptual Robotics use the funding for?

Perceptual Robotics said it will use the money to expand its product offering for wind customers, improve offshore capabilities and grow in both current and new markets. It also plans to keep scaling the inspection and maintenance technologies already used by its customers.

The offshore focus matters because inspection logistics become harder as turbines move farther from shore and individual machines get larger. The company said its technology is being used on some of the world’s largest turbines, though it did not name the sites, customers, contract values or the number of turbines inspected.

Since its last funding round, Perceptual Robotics said it has added customers across Europe, North America and Latin America. The company said its systems have been deployed in locations including northern Sweden’s forests and the Caribbean, a range that suggests the product is being tested across very different operating conditions.

The company’s pitch sits in a crowded area of industrial AI: using automation and computer vision to turn field inspections into actionable maintenance data. Perceptual Robotics says its product roadmap has been shaped by work with wind farm operators, service providers and blade specialists.

That work has led to autonomous inspection capabilities, AI-assisted damage detection, platform integrations and a metric the company calls the Repair Now Ratio, according to Perceptual Robotics. The company did not provide performance benchmarks for those tools or comparable results against manual inspection workflows.

Kostas Karachalios, CEO of Perceptual Robotics, said the funding validates the company’s recent work and gives the team resources to move faster on products customers have requested. The next test is whether that product expansion converts into broader adoption among wind operators that are trying to reduce downtime without adding more manual inspection capacity.
