Enigma robotics seed funding reached $71 million as the company emerged from stealth to build foundation AI models intended to make robots easier to use across industries. The seed round was led by Index Ventures and Ribbit Capital, putting another well-funded startup into the race to own the software layer above robot hardware.

The company was founded less than a year ago by Jonathan Jacobi and Gal Niv, who worked together in Israel’s Unit 8200. Jacobi began studying computer science at 13, completed a degree while still in high school, and became the youngest-ever employee at Microsoft and Check Point at 17, according to the company profile.

Conviction Partners also participated in the round, along with executives from OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepMind, xAI, Cognition and Wiz. Enigma did not disclose its valuation, current headcount or total funding to date.

What is Enigma building?

Enigma says it is developing foundation AI models and interfaces that can work across robot types, reducing the custom engineering and manual data work usually needed to deploy robots. The company’s pitch is that broader adoption depends as much on usability as on the robot’s technical capability.

Alongside the funding, Enigma opened Robots.online, a public platform where users can remotely control 100 real AI-powered robots and have them manipulate physical objects in real time. Enigma describes the site as the world’s first live public AI robotics experience.

The demo also gives Enigma a way to collect human-robot interaction data at scale. Each session can produce examples of a person directing a machine through a physical task, the kind of data robotics companies typically gather through contractors, labs or controlled environments. Enigma has not disclosed detailed terms around how footage and interaction data from the public experience will be governed.

Who is funding robot foundation models?

Enigma is entering a field where capital has already concentrated around the idea that the most valuable robotics layer may be the model and control system, rather than the robot body. That puts the company against better-capitalized rivals chasing similar “universal” robotics software.

Enigma’s $71 million seed is smaller than those rounds, so its early differentiation rests on interface design and a public data-gathering loop rather than funding scale alone. The company is also trying to test demand in public, rather than limiting early interaction to enterprise pilots or lab demonstrations.

Where will Enigma use the money?

Enigma plans to use the capital to grow its research and engineering team, expand computing capacity and push deployments in retail, healthcare and entertainment. The company did not provide customer names, deployment timelines or revenue figures.

The funding continues a broader investor shift toward embodied AI companies that promise reusable intelligence for the physical world. For Enigma, the open question is whether a public robot-control experience can produce useful training data, prove usability and stand out in a category where the largest competitors already have far more capital.
