Mithra launches data-provenance layer for enterprise AI
ShelterZoom subsidiary Mithra Technologies is selling a trust layer that checks enterprise data before it reaches large language models.

ShelterZoom subsidiary Mithra Technologies has launched Mithra AI, an enterprise platform designed to verify data before it is used by a large language model. The company is pitching the product as trust infrastructure for AI deployments, where bad inputs, stale records or unauthorized data can turn a model response into a governance problem.
No funding, valuation, pricing, customer count or revenue figures were disclosed. Mithra AI is available now through direct signup, enterprise licensing and original equipment manufacturer agreements, according to the company.
The product does not replace a customer’s existing model. Mithra says it operates below the model layer, checking content as it moves toward systems from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft and xAI, including Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Grok. Customers can connect through an API, an SDK, OEM partners or a full enterprise deployment.
Mithra’s central claim is that model quality is only part of the enterprise AI problem. ShelterZoom says large language models still depend on the accuracy, permission status and freshness of the data they receive, and that synthetic content and unlicensed data have made those checks harder for companies using AI in regulated work.
What the platform checks
Mithra says the system evaluates whether information is authentic and whether the user or system requesting it has the right clearance. Those checks are tied to what the company calls a cryptographic Single Source of Truth, a verified record intended to trace an AI response back to the underlying materials used to produce it.
For enterprise buyers, the practical feature is auditability. Mithra says the platform continuously revalidates corporate knowledge as it changes and keeps an evidence trail that compliance teams can review after a response is generated. That is a different control point from products that mostly inspect model output after the fact.
The technology draws on ShelterZoom’s background in blockchain and document security. Mithra says it records chain of custody for each data record and protects it with post-quantum, blockchain-based encryption. The company claims that approach can reduce hallucinations and flag unauthorized or unlicensed data before it is used, though it did not publish benchmark data in the announcement.
A lighter product for content management
Mithra is also offering a version aimed at organizations with fewer technical resources. The company describes it as an AI-native content management system for corporate documents and intellectual property, with the same emphasis on access control and data provenance.
The company is targeting sectors where governance requirements are tight and AI errors can carry legal or financial costs, including healthcare, government, financial services, legal services and education.
Chao Cheng-Shorland, co-founder and chief executive of ShelterZoom and Mithra Technologies, said the company was built around the view that AI adoption will depend on trust. She compared the category Mithra is pursuing with cybersecurity, which she described as a market above $200 billion and a basic layer of internet infrastructure.
The Mithra brand predates this AI product. ShelterZoom previously used the name for a blockchain smart contract platform launched in 2019. In October, the company separated Mithra into its own subsidiary and repositioned it around AI data provenance.
Early users named by the company include Conscience IQ and Sage Matters. Conscience IQ founder Kirby de Lanerolle said Mithra supports the company’s use of AI under strict governance requirements in healthcare and defense work. Dr. Barry Morgan, founder of Sage Matters, said his healthcare group plans to use the platform to align AI tools with privacy requirements under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
