SmartAdvocate announced SmartIntelligence on Aug. 4, adding AI functions for intake, document processing, communications and case-data queries to its legal case-management platform for litigation firms. No price, revenue impact, customer deployment figures or funding information was disclosed, leaving SmartAdvocate SmartIntelligence as a product announcement rather than a quantified business update.

The release packages voice, conversational, document-processing and workflow tools inside the system where firms maintain case records. SmartAdvocate says its software is used by more than 20,000 legal professionals and has more than 175 integrations, though it did not identify which SmartIntelligence functions are included in particular plans or when individual customers can use them.

What does SmartAdvocate SmartIntelligence do?

The rollout spans three parts of a litigation-firm workflow. For intake and communications, it includes an AI voice agent that the company says can collect prospective-client details, record leads and trigger communications under a firm’s protocols. Other announced tools include an intake coaching assistant, conversation and negotiation assistants, and AI-assisted email and SMS replies. The company says the message tools produce drafts for attorney or staff review.

For document-heavy work, the features include demand-letter drafts, medical chronologies, filing and classification, data extraction, AI-assisted templates and case assembly. SmartAdvocate says its extraction engine can pull court deadlines, discovery dates and insurance-coverage details from documents into relevant platform fields. Demand Letter Generation is described as using materials such as medical records, deposition transcripts and police reports to create drafts.

The case-intelligence group includes Enhanced Chat with Case, a settlement-value assistant, customizable AI agents and a Model Context Protocol server. SmartAdvocate says Enhanced Chat with Case lets users submit natural-language queries across case data and documents. Its MCP server is intended to connect external AI platforms, including Anthropic Claude, to SmartAdvocate data and documents.

Why the integration matters for law-firm software

The company’s central pitch is integration rather than a separate AI application: SmartIntelligence legal case-management AI is presented as operating on information already held in SmartAdvocate. That structure puts output generation, data extraction and communication drafts beside the case-management records and workflows the tools are designed to use.

For software buyers, the announcement supplies feature descriptions but not the information needed to measure operational impact. SmartAdvocate did not provide model or provider details, technical architecture, data-retention terms, safeguards for privileged information, accuracy rates, implementation requirements or independent evidence of time savings and legal outcomes. Teams assessing AI tools can use a framework for evaluating AI models on representative work to test outputs against their own documents, workflows and tolerance for errors.

SmartAdvocate said more than 40 additional AI-powered features are on its roadmap, without a delivery schedule. The formal Aug. 4 announcement followed earlier company articles on demand-letter generation, voice intake and medical chronologies; its own article index dates the broader SmartIntelligence item Aug. 5.
